Wikipedia has defined panic, in general, as such:
"Panic is a sudden sensation of fear which is so strong as to dominate
or prevent reason and logical thinking, replacing it with overwhelming feelings of anxiety and frantic agitation consistent with an animalistic fight-or-flight reaction."
This is how the fuck I feel when I encounter a shitload of vinyl.
For example, upon finding a cache of sweet selections in a junk shop:
This particular cache was at a multi-vendor spot in Atlanta, they had a huge showy records room at the front of the store, but it honestly was a disappointment. There were several other vendors that had records, but all a typical, kinda sorry ass collection. This little cove, however was SLAM FUCKING FULL of gems! The Panic™ took hold....
Or upon entering a world renowned record shop that is massive:
Sweet Jesus. It didn't take much more than walking into the place to make The Panic™ git a grip. I mean, I knew we were gonna go there, but then I didn't realize the full extent of the MAGNITUDE of the fucking place.
Or especially upon finding a dude selling vinyl out of his VAN on a fucking TARP on the side of the road in ALABAMA:
This is actually not the picture of the dude I had in mind. This is a separate, way more organized, way less exciting selection, on the same journey, but it illustrates my point. The dude I'm thinking of was in Gadsden, AL and it was so fucking awesome- we pulled up to this big yard sale in a church parking lot and there he was with a couple of crates laid out on a tarp up under a tree, next to his van. THEY WERE FULL OF FUCKING GEMS, albeit in varying condition. The Panic™ensued. This was srsly the greatest- he had SO MANY TREASURES.
I would define my personal Panic™ as instant skyrocketing blood pressure, diaphoresis, anxiety and frantic agitation, and loss of all reason and logic. It is most difficult to reel it in, and if you don't reel it in you'll spend all your damn money and leave with a bunch of crap you may not really care about. Alternatively, if you reel it too far in you will leave behind many treasures and gems and you will regret it for the rest of your life and always remember the proverbial "one that got away".
I am I the only one out there who experiences The Panic™? Or do y'all just have different names for it?
